How to compare a wardrobe

How we choose products: rows come from in-stock affiliate feeds that have a name, a price, and a photo when the shop sent one. We do not test the products, and a higher commission does not move a shop up the list.
A wardrobe price is the width and the doors. Sliding-wardrobe rows in this feed name finishes such as oak effect and graphite. A shelf is a different product.
Doors, mirror, and finish
Count the doors. A one-door wardrobe and a two-door sliding unit are different pieces. A mirrored door is part of the product when the title says mirrored. A plain door at a lower price is not the mirrored one.
Finish names matter. Artisan oak, white, and graphite are different units. Oak in the name is not solid timber unless the shop says solid. Two whites can still be different if one is matt and the shop’s photo shows it. Open both when the prices diverge and the names are close.
Drawers built into the wardrobe are included only when the title says drawers. A styled bedroom photo adds baskets that are often another row. Believe the piece count. Hanging rail: named, or not in the box.
The wall you measured
Measure the width, the height, and the depth, and remember the skirting and a socket you cannot cover. A unit a few millimetres too wide will not go in. The feed does not know your alcove. If the title has no centimetres, the shop page has to.
Internal depth matters if you hang shirts or store a suitcase. The title or the shop should state it. We do not measure units. A shorter wardrobe is not a cheaper tall one. Match the height to the ceiling and to the door swing, including sliding doors that need clear floor in front.
A pair of units and one unit are different offers. Read ‘set of’. The gap you wanted between two wardrobes is your plan, not a product.
Flat-pack and the day it arrives
Most of these units arrive flat. That changes the afternoon. A built piece costs more to move. Kerbside delivery and room-of-choice delivery are different services, and stairs may cost extra. The comparison page does not see that charge.
Returns of a built flat-pack are often refused. Know that before you open the box if the width is tight. Wall fixings, if the shop mentions them, are their note. We do not fit wardrobes and we do not tell you a unit is stable.
The feed price is the wardrobe as titled. Visit retailer is an affiliate link. You pay the shop. Commission does not choose the unit. One shop is one offer.
What this list is not
Storage furniture on the site is often shelves and cupboards, not a full wardrobe shop. A bookcase is not a cheaper wardrobe. The sliding-wardrobe department is the closer list when it has rows. Search wardrobe if you already know the finish.
Sofas are a different search. Do not buy a cupboard because the sofa list was short. Robes, as a heading, is jerseys and dresses in the current feed, not a dressing gown and not a wardrobe.
Leave a unit with no size. Leave a finish you cannot name. If nothing fits the alcove, stop. Buying a smaller wardrobe you have no wall for is not a consolation.
Hanging space and shelves
A hanging rail and a stack of shelves serve different clothes. If you hang coats, the internal height under the rail matters more than the door style. The shop page should give that height. A short rail is a different wardrobe from a long one even when the outside width matches.
Mirrored doors save a separate mirror and they also need a clear floor in front so you can stand back. A sliding door does not swing into the room the way a hinged door does. That difference is practical. It is also the reason two similar widths are not the same unit.
Finishes that only look alike
Artisan oak, matt white, and graphite are names from the listings, not a promise about the material underneath. Effect foil and a painted board can share a colour word. If you are matching an existing wardrobe in the room, open the shop photos of the finish, not only the thumbnail on this site.
A one-door wardrobe and a two-door slider can share a brand and a colour and still be different widths. Furniture-in-fashion style rows in this catalogue are often exactly that mix. Compare the door count before the price.
After you have the centimetres
Line up shops only when the width, the doors, and the finish name match. Then read whether delivery is to the room. A flat-pack you cannot get up the stairs is not cheaper in any useful sense. Returns of an assembled unit are often refused.
If the sliding-wardrobe list is thin, search wardrobe. Storage furniture may show shelves instead. Leave those. A bookcase will not become a wardrobe because it was on the page.
Before you click
Put the width you measured next to the width in the title and stop if they differ. Then check door count, mirror, and finish. Only after those match should two shop prices be read as a comparison. A flat-pack that will not turn on your landing is not the cheaper wardrobe in any practical sense, and the feed cannot see the landing.
If the shop page adds a rail or drawers the title omitted, believe the shop and compare that fuller description with the other shop’s description, not with our shortened card. Write down the difference. Then decide. You can also leave the row.
A hinged door needs clearance inside the room equal to the door width. A sliding door needs clearance in front so you can stand and see the rail work, and it does not need that swing. If you are matching a run of furniture, the finish name has to be the same on each unit you buy, and buying them in one order is the practical way to keep the colour close. Internal shelves that move are a feature only when the shop says the shelves move. Fixed shelves change what fits. Write the internal height under the rail if you hang coats, because a short rail wastes the outside height you already measured.
The rail, not the door style
If you hang coats, the height under the rail matters more than whether the door slides. Read that height on the shop page.
