How to compare storage furniture

How we choose products: rows come from in-stock affiliate feeds that have a name, a price, and a photo when the shop sent one. We do not test the products, and a higher commission does not move a shop up the list.
Storage rows are cupboards and shelves more often than a full wardrobe shop. Match the piece and the centimetres.
Name the piece
A bookcase, a sideboard, a chest of drawers, and a wardrobe store things and are not substitutes. The storage department is a short feed. Furniture is the wider list. Search the noun you mean if the department mixes them. A lower price on a two-shelf bookcase is not a discount on a wardrobe.
Read doors, drawers, and whether a hanging rail is included. A photo of a styled bedroom does not put a rail in the box. Baskets and boxes in that photo are often another product. Match the piece count and the function.
Alcoves and skirting
Measure the width, the height, and the depth, and remember the skirting board. A unit that is a few millimetres too wide will not go in. The feed will not know your alcove. If the title has no size, open the shop before you compare the price.
Flat-pack and finish
Most of this furniture arrives flat. That changes the afternoon and the price. A built piece costs more to move and may cost more to buy. If the title does not say, check the shop. Effect woods are not solid timber. Match the finish name so two oak rows are actually the same colour.
A pair of units and one unit are different offers. A cheaper single is honest and incomplete if you needed the pair. Read ‘set of’ and the number.
Delivery
Flat-pack is heavy in a different way from a built wardrobe. Kerbside delivery and room-of-choice delivery are different services. Stairs may cost extra. The comparison page does not see that charge. Visit retailer and read it. Returns of a built flat-pack are often refused. Know that before you open the box if you are unsure of the size.
One shop is one offer. Affiliate links do not change the price and do not choose the unit. We do not assemble furniture and we do not publish a wobble score.
Sofas are a different search
A sofa is not storage furniture. If the feed’s sofa list is only a handful of rows, search sofa rather than forcing a cupboard to stand in for one. The same rule applies the other way: do not buy a sofa because you were pricing a bookcase.
When the row is the wrong product
Leave a unit with no dimensions. Leave a wardrobe title when you can see it is a shelf, or the reverse. Leave a finish you cannot name. If nothing in the list fits the alcove, stop. Buying a smaller unit you do not have a place for is not a consolation prize.
Use the furniture department if storage is empty. Use search with the noun. The guide still applies: size, piece count, flat-pack, then the shop.
What the piece is for
A bookcase, a sideboard, a chest of drawers, and a wardrobe store things and are not substitutes. Name the piece before you sort by price. A lower price on a two-shelf bookcase is not a discount on a wardrobe. The storage department is a short feed. Furniture is the wider list. Search the noun if the department mixes them.
Read doors, drawers, and whether a hanging rail is included. A photo of a styled bedroom does not put a rail in the box. Baskets and boxes in that photo are often another product. Internal depth matters for files, a printer, or a hanging shirt. The title or the shop page has to state the depth. We do not measure units.
Adjustable shelves are a feature only when they are written down. A fixed shelf unit is a different product. If you need to move a shelf to fit a folder, the listing has to say the shelves move.
The alcove, the skirting, and the fixings
Measure width, height, and depth, and remember the skirting board and a plug socket you cannot cover. A unit that is a few millimetres too wide will not go in. The feed does not know your alcove. If the title has no size, the shop page has to, or the row is incomplete.
Tall units sometimes need a wall fixing. That strap, if it exists, should be mentioned. We do not fit furniture and we do not tell you a unit is stable. Floors that are not level are your problem to spot. A cheaper unit with no mention of a fixing is not automatically unsafe, and it is not automatically ready for a child’s room. Read the shop’s own note.
A pair of units and one unit are different offers. A cheaper single is honest and incomplete if you needed the pair. Read ‘set of’ and the number. A gap you wanted between two units is not in the product. Plan it in the measurement.
Delivery of a flat-pack
Most of this furniture arrives flat. That changes the afternoon. A built piece costs more to move. Kerbside delivery and room-of-choice delivery are different services, and stairs may cost extra. The comparison page does not see that charge. Returns of a built flat-pack are often refused. Know that before you open the box if the size is tight.
Effect woods are not solid timber. Match the finish name so two oak rows are the same colour. One shop is one offer. Affiliate links do not change the price. If storage is almost empty, use the furniture department or search the noun. A sofa is a different search. Do not buy a cupboard because the sofa list was short, or the reverse. Wardrobes follow the same rule: the title has to say wardrobe. If two units share a name and differ by a door or a drawer, they are different products. Line up the shop prices only after that difference is gone. A hanging rail that is sold separately is not a cheaper wardrobe.
