How to compare a rug

How we choose products: rows come from in-stock affiliate feeds that have a name, a price, and a photo when the shop sent one. We do not test the products, and a higher commission does not move a shop up the list.
A rug price is the size. A 40 by 70 centimetre mat and a room rug are different products. The rug list on this site is often short.
Measure the floor
Write down the width and length you can spare, including the furniture that will sit on the rug or around it. A doormat size is not a living-room rug. Match the centimetres in the title. If the title has none, open the shop or leave the row.
A cheaper smaller mat is not a discount on the larger one. Round and rectangular are different shapes. A runner for a hall is a different product again. Stay inside the shape you measured.
A rug photographed under a sofa on a furniture page may be a prop. On a rug listing, believe the size in the title, not the room in the picture. We do not visit the floor.
Material and washable
Coir, a flatweave, and a soft pile are different rugs. The title has to say which. A coir doormat and a washable room rug are not substitutes. Washable is a claim on the listing, not a test we have run. Read the shop’s care line if you need to wash it.
Colour names are loose. Blush, grey, and multicolour are different products. Open the shop if two rows share a name and show different colours. We do not judge fade.
A non-slip backing should be written if you are counting on it. Do not infer it from a photo of a rug that is not curling. Thickness, if you care about doors clearing it, has to be stated.
A short list and the shop
A short rug department is normal. Read every title rather than trusting a long sort. One shop is one offer. Search rug if the department is empty. A thin result is honest. Do not buy a bath mat from a bedding brand and call it the room rug unless the centimetres match.
The feed price excludes delivery. A large rolled rug is an awkward parcel. Read postage. Returns if the colour is wrong are the shop’s rule and are often time-limited.
Visit retailer is an affiliate link. You pay the shop. Commission does not choose the rug. Leave a rug with no size. Leave a title you cannot read. The checklist is centimetres, material, then the shop.
Shape, pile, and doors
A round rug and a rectangle do not cover the same floor. A runner is narrower still. Match the shape you measured. Pile height, when the shop states it, decides whether a door will clear the rug. We do not test doors. If the listing is silent on thickness, do not assume a flatweave.
Coir doormats and soft room rugs feel different and they are sized differently. A 40 by 70 centimetre mat is a doorway. A room rug is the larger centimetres. Washable is a care claim. Read how the shop says to wash it. We will not invent a machine cycle.
Colour and a short catalogue
Abstract blush, a multicolour washable rug, and a printed animal mat are different products from the current list, and they show the range of what ‘rug’ means here. Match the one you would put on your floor. A cheaper mat in a colour you dislike is not a saving.
The department is short. Read every title. Search rug if you need a size the department does not show. A thin search is a result. Do not buy a bath mat because a bedding brand also sells textiles. Check the centimetres.
Delivery of a roll
A large rug is posted as a roll. That parcel has a delivery price the feed often hides. Two close feed prices can swap order once postage is added. Open the shop you would use.
Returns if the colour is different from the screen are time-limited on many shops. Read the window before you pay if you are choosing from a thumbnail. One shop is one offer. Leave a rug with no size. The checklist is centimetres, material, then the shop.
Before you click
Write the centimetres of the floor, including the shape. A 40 by 70 doormat is not a room rug. Coir and a soft washable pile are different materials. Washable is a claim to read. We do not wash the rug. Colour from a thumbnail is unreliable enough that two shops with the same name and different photos should both be opened.
The list is short on purpose of the feed, not because a missing size is hiding. Search rug. A rolled rug’s postage can reorder two close prices. Leave a rug with no size. One shop is one offer. You can stop without clicking.
Underlay and a rug tape are separate products. A photo of a rug lying flat does not include them. If a door catches, the thickness on the shop page is the number to read. A washable rug and a coir mat also differ in where you would use them: a doorway versus the middle of a room. Match that use, then the centimetres. Binding, fringe, and a non-slip back are written or they are absent. Two shops can share a colour name and show different patterns. Open both. A short catalogue is not a cue to buy a bath mat and rename it.
A rug that is folded in a photo can hide the shape. Use the centimetres, not the fold. Outdoor and indoor, if you need one of them, have to be written. A doormat that lives in the rain is a different product from a room rug. Fringe that frays is a care question for the shop page. If two listings give different sizes for one name, believe the shop you would pay, and do not average the numbers. A short list is still a list you can finish reading before you decide the size is missing.
Centimetres before colour
Write the floor size first. A doormat and a room rug can share a colour name and still be different products.
