How to compare a kettle or a toaster

How we choose products: rows come from in-stock affiliate feeds that have a name, a price, and a photo when the shop sent one. We do not test the products, and a higher commission does not move a shop up the list.
There is often no kettle or toaster department in this catalogue. Search the appliance you mean. A kettle is not a cheaper toaster.
Decide which appliance
A kettle and a toaster solve different breakfasts. Sorting a mixed search by price will put the cheaper small appliance first and pretend it is the one you wanted. Search kettle, or search toaster, and stay inside that word.
If the search is empty, that is an honest result. The catalogue does not have a row worth showing today. Do not rename a saucepan or a coffee machine and call it close. Coffee machines have their own guide. This page is the kettle and the toaster.
We do not boil water in these kettles and we do not toast bread in these toasters. Capacity and slice count are the specification. Claims about speed are the maker’s.
A kettle: litres and the base
Match the capacity in litres. A one-litre kettle and a 1.7 litre kettle are different products. A cheaper small kettle is the wrong one if you boil a full mug for several people. The title has to state the litres. If it does not, open the shop.
A cordless base, a water window, and a keep-warm setting are included only when they are written. Do not infer them from a photo of a kitchen. The UK plug should be confirmed on the shop page. We do not assume a three-pin plug from a silver photo.
Limescale filters are part of the product only when named. A filter sold later is another buy. Minimum fill, if you boil one cup, should be on the shop page if you care. We will not invent that volume.
A toaster: slots and the crumb tray
Match the number of slots and whether they are long enough for the bread you actually use. A two-slice toaster and a four-slice toaster are different products. A cheaper two-slice is not a discount on the four-slice.
A crumb tray, a defrost setting, and extra-wide slots should be in the title if you are counting on them. Browning is not something we measure. A bun warmer on top is included only when the listing says so.
A toaster and a kettle sold as a pair are a set. Compare the set with a set, or price the single appliance on purpose. Buying a pair to get one kettle is a different decision.
The shop, the plug, and when to leave
The feed price excludes postage. These are small appliances and delivery can still close a small gap. Read the basket. Returns of a used kettle are often refused. Read that if you are unsure of the size.
One shop is one offer. Visit retailer is an affiliate link. You pay the shop. Commission does not choose the appliance. Leave a title with no litres and no slice count. Leave a row you cannot read.
If search shows nothing useful, use a shop you know and keep the same checklist: which appliance, the capacity or the slots, the UK plug, then the price. Not the other way round.
Filters, lids, and a window
A kettle with a removable limescale filter is a different product from one that does not mention a filter. If your water is hard, that word matters, and it has to be written. A water window is useful and is still only a feature when the listing says the side is transparent.
Lid design and a 360 degree base are the same kind of claim. Match them if you care, and ignore them if the title is silent. Do not promote a lifestyle photo of a boiling kettle into a specification. Capacity in litres remains the first number.
Toaster width and a pair deal
Long-slot toasters take different bread from a short slot. The title should say if the slot is extra wide or long. A four-slice toaster takes more worktop. Measure the worktop before you treat a four-slice as an upgrade you have room for.
A matching kettle and toaster set is one price for two appliances. Compare it with the two singles only after you have priced both singles. A set that forces a colour you dislike is a different decision from the kettle alone. Search toaster when you want the toaster. This guide’s catalogue link searches kettle because that is the single most useful query when the department does not exist.
Safety wording we will not invent
Boil-dry cut-out and a cool-touch outside are maker claims. We do not test them. If you want them, they have to be on the shop page. A used kettle is often outside a change-of-mind return. Read that if you are unsure of the litres.
Leave a row with no capacity and no slice count. Leave a coffee machine that a broad kitchen search mixed in. Leave a title you cannot read. If the search is empty, that is the catalogue today. Use a shop you know and keep the same checklist.
Before you click
Search the appliance you mean and ignore the other one. Litres or slice count come next. A UK plug and a filter or a wide slot are extras you only count when they are written. Postage can close a small gap on a small appliance. Read the basket.
A pair deal is a set. Price the single first if you only need one. Leave coffee machines and saucepans that a broad kitchen search mixes in. An empty search means the feed has no kettle or toaster worth showing today.
A metal kettle and a plastic kettle are different weights and different outsides. Match the material if you care, and do not invent it from a silver photo. Minimum and maximum fill should be on the shop page if you boil a single cup. A toaster’s bun rack and a defrost button are the same kind of extra: written, or absent. If the search returns a café urn or a commercial toaster, that is a different machine from a domestic two-slice. Read the word commercial or the litre capacity before you call it the kitchen kettle.
One appliance at a time
A kettle and a toaster are different products. Search the one you mean, then match litres or slice count.
