How to choose a games console from a feed

How we choose products: rows come from in-stock affiliate feeds that have a name, a price, and a photo when the shop sent one. We do not test the products, and a higher commission does not move a shop up the list.
Console lists are full of pads, games, and skins. The machine is the product only when the title says so. A bundle with a game is a different offer from the console alone.
Machine, pad, or game
Read the noun. A controller, a headset, a charging dock, and a game are not the console. A skin is not the console. If you wanted the machine, leave those rows even when the brand and the photo style match.
Disc and digital editions of one family are different products. Storage figures in the title are part of the product. A bundle that names a game includes that game. A bundle that does not, does not. We do not play them.
Region, accounts, and price
Region locks and an online account are explained on the shop page, not in a short feed title. If that matters to you, read it there. Memberships are not in the feed price. A ‘console only’ row and a row with an extra pad should not be compared as one price.
A basic console, a mid bundle with a game, and a dearer pack with a second pad are different offers. One shop is one offer. A very low price on an accessory is not a cheap console. Postage on a console is often more than a small gap.
Mistakes and the catalogue
Do not buy a game thinking it is the hardware. Do not ignore storage. Do not assume a photo of a family of devices is the one box in the title. Do not treat a was-price that looks invented as a history.
From our catalogue, open video game consoles. The Nintendo brand page mixes games and hardware. Read the noun. Visit retailer is the shop. You pay their price. We do not set up the account for you.
How we choose products
FindAProduct lists games consoles that shops send through affiliate feeds and that still look in stock: a readable name, a price, and a photo when the merchant included one. We do not buy the products, wear them, or run them. We do not invent a winner.
Visit retailer is an affiliate link. The shop or the network may pay a commission if you buy. That payment is not added to the price, and it is not how we order the shops. If the live list is thin, this guide still explains the decision and the category page says what the feed currently has.
A last pass before you pay
A family of consoles has more than one model in the shops at once. The older model, the current model, and a revised chassis with a different port or storage are different machines. The photo angle will not save you. The model string in the title will. If it is missing, open the shop before you compare prices. A pad in the brand’s colours is still a pad.
Digital editions do not play a disc you already own. Disc editions might, and they might not play every older disc. That compatibility is a shop or a maker sentence, not a promise from us. We do not keep a library and we do not test discs. If your shelf of old games is the reason you want a disc drive, read that sentence on the shop page.
Power cables, an HDMI lead, and a second pad are included only when the title says so. Assume a bare console includes what the maker’s usual box includes, then verify on the shop, because bundles remove and add parts. A code for a game is not a disc. A code can expire or be region tied. The title has to say code if it is a code.
On the console list, skip skins, docks, and games until the nouns say console. Then match storage and disc or digital. One shop is one offer. A second shop with the same model string is the comparison. Membership and a display are extra money the feed will not show. Visit retailer is the shop’s price, unchanged by any commission.
Details the feed leaves out
Controllers drift and cables fray. A new pad in the box is not a lifetime of pads. A listing that is only a pad should be priced as a pad. If you need the pad because yours failed, do not compare it with a console bundle and feel cheated. They were never the same row.
Storage fills up. A larger storage model is a different console, not a setting you can assume. External storage, when people use it, is another product and another price. The feed will not add it. If the title’s storage figure is the reason you chose the row, check the shop repeats that figure before you pay.
Accounts, child settings, and a subscription are the shopper’s, not part of our price. We do not set them up and we do not rank games. A bundle game you will not play is not a discount on the hardware unless you wanted that game. Remove it from your mental price or buy the console-only row. Visit retailer is still just the shop, at the shop’s price.
A revised model with a smaller chassis can share a family name and a different storage size. If you are matching a console a friend owns, match the model string, not the family. Pads from one model do not always pair with another. The title of a pad should name the console it fits. If it does not, it is an incomplete listing. Leave it until the shop page names the fit.
A download code in a box and a disc on a shelf are different ways to own a game, and neither is the console. When the row is the console, ignore the game charts. When the row is a game, ignore the hardware price. Mixing them makes every number look wrong. Split the list with the noun in the title, then compare two shops that kept that noun and that model. That is the comparison. The rest is noise. A bundle that adds a second pad is worth it only if you needed the second pad. Otherwise the console-only row is the honest price of the machine, and the pad can wait until you know you want that exact pad. HDMI leads and a television are outside the feed. Budget for them separately so a cheap console does not surprise you at the till with a missing cable. A pad you already own is not a reason to buy a bundle that includes another, unless you wanted a spare. Match the model string again on the shop page. Family names hide a newer chassis and a different amount of storage.
Questions shoppers ask
Is a pad the console?
No. Match the word console or the model of the machine. A controller is a different product.
Is a game included?
Only when the title names it. Do not assume a bundle from the photo.
Do you play them?
No. We do not test consoles, games, or online services.
