Hibiscus syriacus 'Woodbridge'

One of the later flowering varieties, this RHS AGM winning, deciduous shrub comes into flower when others are looking tired, featuring large, trumpet-shaped deep-pink flowers of 8cm (3in) across, with red centres from late summer to mid-autumn.

The upright branches bear handsome, three lobed, dark-green leaves with an exotic feel to the entire plant, but is just at home in a herbaceous border as it is in a tropical-style garden.
